Job Description

Job Summary:   

We are looking for a numbers-driven, detail-oriented person with the ability to think analytically.  Must have experience with MS Dynamics GP and an intermediate/advanced user in Microsoft Excel.  This is a hands-on multi-functional role.  Responsibilities include AP/AR, month end close, journal entries, GL reconciliations, job project costing, cash management, forecasting and other related accounting duties. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with accounting, willing to multi task and have strong finance experience in a small to medium-sized organizations. 

Essential Job Duties:  

• A/R – Preparation and submission of monthly customer invoices, posting of revenue to the General Ledger in the proper accounting period and posting customer payment receipts.

• A/P – Management of payables process from receipt of invoices, obtaining proper approvals, posting expenses to the GL in the proper period and making vendor payments.

• Cash Management – Reporting and managing daily cash balances, assistance with cash forecasting.

• Project Cost - Strong knowledge of project costing for financial and government reporting.

• Prepare standard monthly journal entries, consistent with GAAP requirements.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly GL account reconciliations, to include analysis of accounts for accuracy and reasonableness.

• Coordinating accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments in accordance with GAAP.

• Fixed Asset management and coordination.

• Actively participate in the documentation/development of accounting policies and procedures, processes and internal controls in accordance with GAAP, DCAA, and company objectives. 

• Interact and work directly with external auditors during the annual financial statements audit.

• Participate in special projects to support management's need for financial statement analysis and process improvement projects. 

• Coordination and management of applicable Sales and Use tax.

• Escalate issues noted to management in a timely manner. 

• Document accounting processes and make recommendations for process improvements.

• May perform additional accounting related functions as needed.



Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

• Minimum of 3-5 years of corporate accounting experience including knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement preparation is required

• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics GP financial application is required - advanced knowledge is a plus

• Experience with Project Cost accounting application from Olympic Systems and Paylocity is a plus

• Working knowledge of Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliance requirements

• Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel skills is required

• Strong computer skills overall (MS Office, others) is required

• Experience with Federal Government accounting regulations with working knowledge of fringe, overhead, G&A, B&P, IR&D and unallowable cost pools is a plus
